More wildlife species in Singapore may be added to list that offers greater protection

SINGAPORE – More wildlife species in Singapore could be added to the country’s protected list later this year, after an ongoing assessment of how threatened its flora and fauna are from extinction is complete.

There are now at least 37 species of wild animals on the Protected Wildlife Species list, which confers them greater legal protection from harm. They include the leopard cat, various species of sea turtles and sawfish.
